The SolarEdge Energy Hub is an all-in-one solution designed by SolarEdge to streamline the management of solar power generation, energy storage, EV charging, and smart energy devices in residential settings. This single-phase DC optimized inverter, utilizing SolarEdge’s prism technology, offers efficient power conversion and advanced monitoring features.
When combined with a compatible battery and the Backup Interface, the Energy Hub provides homeowners with automatic backup power during grid interruptions, ensuring uninterrupted operation of essential home loads. Furthermore, solar energy can be stored in the connected battery, enabling Smart Energy Management applications such as export control, demand response, peak shaving, and time-of-use shifting for reduced electric bills.
Key Components of the StorEdge Solution:
Energy Hub Inverter: Serving as the central component, the Energy Hub manages and optimizes DC power generated by solar panels. Along with its traditional functionality as a DC-optimized PV inverter, it manages battery and system energy.
Connection Unit: Located at the bottom of the inverter, the Connection Unit enables simple installation and connectivity to other system components. It incorporates a DC Safety Switch, enhancing safety measures.
Batteries (optional): The Energy Hub is compatible with DC-coupled batteries, such as the SolarEdge Energy Bank or LG RESU series. These lithium-ion batteries can be optionally connected to the system and work seamlessly within the SolarEdge ecosystem.
Supported Batteries:
The Energy Hub is compatible with specific battery models, including the SolarEdge Energy Bank and LG RESU series. These batteries are designed to integrate flawlessly with the SolarEdge system and comply with relevant safety standards, such as UL 1973, UL 9540, CE, RCM, and IEC 62619.
Backup Interface (optional, required for backup support):
The Backup Interface enables the control of disconnection of house loads from the grid during power outages, facilitating grid-tied solar backup. It incorporates various components to enable battery and inverter operation during backup mode.
Additional Components:
Energy Meter: The Energy Meter provides crucial readings for export, import, production, and consumption of electricity. It supports Smart Energy Management applications, including export limitation, time-of-use profile programming, and maximizing self-consumption.
Auto-transformer: Responsible for handling phase load balancing within the system, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
200A Microgrid Interconnection Device: In the event of a power outage, this device disconnects house loads from the grid, enhancing system safety and operation.
